Are the chickens given any hormones?

Our chickens are completely hormone and antibiotic free. We do not inject them with any hormones or antibiotics, and they also are not given any through their feed or water.

When necessary, we use natural remedies such as aloe vera, rosemary, lavender, and colloidal silver.

Are the chickens given any shots?

We don’t hatch our own chicks but buy them from a hatchery that does a standard vaccination on day one.
From then
on, they are in our care and raised on Eddie’s non-GMO feed and organic pasture.

Where do you deliver?

We deliver in the Cape Metropolitan and Winelands Area. We do also provide delivery to Clanwilliam, Vredendal and Beaufort West, but please contact us to place an order for these areas, as these orders are currently still processed manually.

How to place a wholesale order.

We do provide discounted prices for registered wholesalers. Please contact us via email to register – hannelle@cleanmeat.co.za

Where are you located?

We run our clean meat business from our family farm in the Karoo, near Victoria West. All meat products are sourced from farms in our area. We are an online meat platform with a distribution point in the Cape. Currently we do not have a depot or physical store where customers can purchase our products. We do, however, have stockists. View our stockist list for more information.

Where can I find a stockist?

We are still growing our list of stockists. If you are interested in becoming a stockist, please contact us for wholesale prices or to register as a wholesaler.

 Our current stockists:

Organic Point Noordhoek

Reap Co

How are your chickens processed and packaged?

Our chickens are humanely processed in an approved, hygienic facility and then frozen immediately to lock in freshness, flavor, and nutrients. They are sealed and frozen to ensure they arrive in peak condition.

Are your products Halaal or Kosher certified?

While our meat is sourced from ethical, free-range local farms that practice clean and humane slaughter methods, our processing facilities are not officially Halaal or Kosher certified at this stage.

What is the difference between pasture-raised chicken and standard free-range chicken?

While standard "free-range" chickens have access to natural light this focuses on the amount of space a chicken has access to. For free range, you can keep 15 chickens per square meter. Our chickens are truly pasture-raised. They live outdoors on fresh, organic pastures in mobile chicken coops (chicken tractors) that are moved regularly. We stick to less than 10 chickens per square meter. This allows them to forage daily for grass, seeds, and insects, resulting in superior flavor, rich yellow fat, and significantly higher nutritional value.

How should I store and defrost my frozen meat?

For the best results, we recommend defrosting your chicken or Karoo lamb slowly in the refrigerator for 24 hours before cooking. Once defrosted, keep it in the fridge and cook within 1 to 2 days. Do not refreeze raw meat once it has been fully thawed.

Tell me more about your Karoo Lamb, how is it raised?

Our certified Karoo lamb is sourced directly from ethical, local farms in the Karoo. The lambs graze freely on wide-open veld containing indigenous Karoo bushes and aromatic herbs like ankerkaroo, kapokbos and many more. This natural, stress-free diet gives Karoo lamb its world-renowned, distinctively tender, and subtle herbal flavor profile, completely free of any added hormones.

Do you offer vacuum-sealed cuts or whole portions?

Yes! Our pasture-raised chickens are available as whole birds (ideal for a Sunday roast) as well as convenient individual cuts such as breasts, thighs, drumsticks, and wings. Our Karoo lamb and venison selections also come in various popular cuts, clearly labeled and sealed for easy meal planning.

What payment methods do you accept for online orders?

We accept major credit and debit cards through our online checkout. For manual orders (such as those for Clanwilliam, Vredendal, or Beaufort West), bank transfer details will be provided when your invoice is finalized.

Can I collect my order directly instead of having it delivered?

Because we operate primarily as an online platform with our farm based in the Karoo and a distribution hub in the Cape, we do not have a walk-in retail storefront. However, you can conveniently order online for delivery right to your door or purchase our products directly through one of our trusted stockists (like Organic Point Noordhoek or Reap Co).

Are your venison products sustainably and ethically sourced?

Yes, our free-range venison is responsibly sourced from local game farms in the region. The animals roam naturally in large, open game reserves and are harvested ethically, ensuring a sustainable supply of lean and chemical-free red meat.

How can I stay updated on product availability, specials, and new stock drops?

Because our farming practices rely on natural cycles and seasonal availability (especially for our pasture-raised chickens and free-range venison), stock can sometimes fluctuate. You can sign up for our newsletter or follow our social media channels to be the first to know when fresh batches and special promotions (like our seasonal discounts) become available!
